Stripping Wallpaper Off Your Wall

When we want to paint on our walls that still have wall paper on them, we would usually opt for the common practice of painting over them rather than removing them first. But if you have old wallpapers that are peeling off, better that you remove them first even if it needs a little work. If you remove the wall paper first, you will be able to see problems you were not able to see and this would allow you to repair them. Make sure you do the removal carefully though to make sure that your drywall is not damage because you tore the top layer or gouged it. Once it is removed and repairs are made, you are ready to paint.

First, you should remove wall plates, fixtures and pictures from the wall and place drop cloth on the floor and over the furnitures. After 24 hours of waiting, dry the wall thoroughly. Gouges, picture handr holes and other problems should be spackled over. Make it smooth using a putty knife and let it dry again for another 24 hours. Use sandpaper for the spackled area and then you can start painting over them.
